Read the position. Find the tactic.

Real games don’t tell you what tactic to look for, so neither does this book. The 500 puzzles are deliberately mixed throughout, and you are never given the theme or difficulty in advance. You have to assess the position, find the opportunity and work out the line for yourself. Some are quick to spot; others take more calculation. The answer then tells you what motif you found, and how difficult the puzzle was.
